Yoon Shi-yoon Gets Real About Regret, English Fails, and Turning Things Around.
Yoon Shi-yoon recently shared how serious he is about studying English, and it really showed on the June 1st episode of SBS’s My Little Old Boy (Miwoo Sae). The actor gave a peek into his super-disciplined lifestyle and even talked about why he went to the Philippines for language training.
His house had this calm, focused vibe, and it was clear English studying had become a regular part of his life. His living room was filled with English books, and he’s even taking online classes regularly. The hosts were pretty impressed with how he’s cut out dopamine-heavy habits and stayed committed to bettering himself.
“At some point, I received an absurd English textbook from my mother, and when I watched a broadcast, they said, ‘You can’t speak English.’ Seeing that made me feel so pathetic,” he admitted. He went on to say, “Even though I had many opportunities to work with foreign staff on set, I wasn’t prepared at all.”
He also opened up about how ashamed he felt. “I was ashamed and regretted being lazy. I missed so many opportunities because of language,” he said honestly. But he didn’t stop there—he added, “I believe an opportunity will come again someday, and I made up my mind that I absolutely had to prepare my language skills.”
During the show, he randomly left the dinner table mid-meal, and it turned out it was for his online English class. That kind of dedication totally surprised everyone. And yeah, he actually studied abroad in the Philippines just last year to really focus on improving.
“There’s something I always do before going to bed,” he said, before showing off how he puts every single dish away and keeps his kitchen spotless—like it hasn’t even been used. When asked if that was a military habit, he laughed and said, “During my time in the Marine Corps, I found joy in organizing my personal gear. That was healing for me.”
This was his first time showing his everyday life on TV, and people really saw a different side of him. From his crazy neat kitchen to his full-on English study grind, Yoon Shi-yoon came across as super grounded and serious about self-growth.
