Words from the Winners
I-DLE couldn’t hide their emotions as they took the stage for the biggest honor of the night.
Soyeon, the group’s leader, said: “We are most thankful to our fans who gave us this award. We’re not sure if we deserve such a big award. The parents of all five members, both in Korea and overseas, are cheering us on. We want to tell them thank you and not to worry.”
Miyeon added: “We are so grateful. It’s an honor to receive the Daesang, an award that our respected seniors have won since we were young. It makes us want to work even harder.”
“You’ve supported I-DLE anytime, anywhere, and thanks to that, we’ve come this far. We will repay you with even more amazing performances in the future.”
Minnie shared her journey, saying: “I came to Korea 10 years ago and started as a trainee. It’s an honor to be able to make the music I love with my members.”
“We will work even harder.”
About the Event
The Seoul Music Awards, first launched in 1990, has long been one of Korea’s biggest annual music ceremonies. The 34th edition arrived a bit later than usual this year—typically held in January, it instead took place on June 21. But the delay didn’t take away from the magic. The night still delivered stunning performances and emotional acceptance speeches, honoring some of K-pop’s biggest names of 2024.
