BTSs Spring Day Still Blooming Strong

BTS’s “Spring Day” is breaking records! It’s become the longest-lasting hit on the Melon music chart in 20 years, basically the unofficial song of spring in Korea.

Since its release in 2017, “Spring Day” has been in the top spots on the Melon chart for a crazy 7 years straight, with no breaks! It’s close to hitting a billion streams and even snagged the #1 spot on the “Music Bank” music show last month.

So, what makes “Spring Day” so special compared to all of BTS’s other songs?

Music experts say it’s the lyrics. When you listen to “Spring Day,” you feel both happy and a little sad at the same time. BTS members RM and Suga wrote the song and put their own feelings into the words, making it extra real. This, along with the spring theme, really connects with fans.

Another reason for the song’s success? All the members of BTS are currently in the military. In December, when the last two members joined, “Spring Day” shot to the top of the iTunes charts in 83 countries! Fans are missing BTS and listening to “Spring Day” even more, finding comfort in its warm message.

Before “Spring Day,” BTS was known for their strong, energetic songs like “Run” and “Blood, Sweat & Tears.” But with “Spring Day,” they showed a completely different side. The song is loved by both young and older fans, making BTS a group for everyone.

Even though the song is slow and gentle, the dance moves are super intense, just like you’d expect from a group like BTS. The way they move their hands like snowflakes and their quick footwork are classic BTS. Fans even call the choreography “out of this world”! One part, where Jimin dances solo, especially stood out because of his smooth moves, showing off his training in modern dance.

In the past, there were always songs associated with spring, like “Cherry Blossom Ending” by Busker Busker or “Bom Bom Bom” by Roy Kim. These songs would always climb the charts in March and April, but they haven’t been as popular lately.

Last year, the charts were filled with songs by new girl groups instead of the usual spring hits. But this year, it’s BTS’s “Spring Day” that’s taking over!

A music critic named Kim Do-hyun explained why this is happening. He said that as younger people listen to music more, the older spring songs aren’t as popular anymore. He thinks it’s amazing that “Spring Day” has been doing so well for so long, especially since BTS is in the military. He also said that because BTS is still super popular with young people, “Spring Day” has naturally become the new song of spring for this generation.
