NewJeans member Minji left a heartfelt message for fans on her birthday, and it’s got fans feeling all the emotions.
On May 7th, Minji took to the SNS account she shares with her fellow members and posted a letter that’s equal parts thoughtful and emotional. She wrote, “Hello Bunnies! I missed you all. I wonder what everyone has been up to lately~ I think I’m living a surprisingly busy life. When I came to my senses, it was already May and my birthday?! Time really flies.”
She went on to open up about her current thoughts and how complex everything feels lately. “There’s so much I want to say, but my head feels complicated and it’s not organizing well. I just hope that I, our members, and Bunnies are happy. Happiness is the biggest goal of my life…”
Then Minji shared something a bit deeper: “I think it might seem foolish to only look at my own happiness and run towards doing what I like. But… I hope my today and tomorrow are happy, and the same goes for Bunnies’ days. Isn’t it too harsh on oneself to give up present happiness for future happiness? A future that might not even come.”
She reflected on her past with fans and expressed hope for what’s to come. “I really miss the times when we gathered with good music and shared our feelings, but I’m always looking forward to the future more! We haven’t stopped here, and we won’t stop! We might seem to be standing still, but I think we are definitely growing deeper.”
Minji closed her letter warmly: “I hope that today, which I spent with Bunnies, and tomorrow, which we will spend together, will be filled with happiness for all of us. In this limited time, our meeting feels even more precious. Minji.”
P.S. I’m sorry I can’t reply to all of your messages ㅜㅜ!! But I’ve read them all carefully, and I’ll read the rest too!!!
Meanwhile, there’s been a lot going on behind the scenes with NewJeans and their agency, ADOR. Back in November, the group announced the end of their exclusive contract with the agency, saying their trust had completely broken down. They introduced a new activity name, ‘NJZ,’ and began promoting independently.
However, ADOR didn’t take that lightly. The agency filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of their exclusive contract, along with an injunction that aimed to preserve their agency status and block them from signing new advertising deals.
The court ended up siding with ADOR and accepted the injunction fully. While NewJeans still made scheduled appearances, they eventually announced a temporary break from activities. Although the group challenged the injunction decision, their objection was dismissed, and they’ve since filed an appeal.
