Yoshihiro Akiyama (aka Choo Sung-hoon), the MMA fighter and broadcaster, grabbed a lot of attention after sharing a cool story about running into BLACKPINK’s Jennie at Coachella.
On May 8th, he uploaded a new video on his YouTube channel titled “They say if you speak it, it all comes true? Uncle in Coachella feat. Our Jennie.” He was invited to the festival by a company and filmed the whole trip.
While on his way to his place to stay, someone from the crew asked him to say a message to Jennie—even though he didn’t know her personally. Without hesitation, he smiled and said, “Our Jennie.”
And funny enough, that moment kinda came true. After seeing Jennie perform live at Coachella, Choo Sung-hoon said, “It makes me want to stand on a fighting stage.” The performance really fired him up.
Then, to his surprise, he actually got to meet Jennie after the show. “I even wore pink because of Blackpink,” he told her. “Uncle came. I went wild watching the stage. Seeing the stage made me want to get back on the fighting stage again.”
Jennie smiled and said, “I’m really cheering you on.” They ended up chatting more, and Choo Sung-hoon even gave her a hat as a gift. He asked if she watches his YouTube channel, and Jennie told him, “I watch it so much. It’s my mealtime companion. I watch ‘that uncle’ a lot too. I’m a fan,” which made him super happy.
Then he asked, “Do you like desserts and things like that?” Jennie replied, “I like them. I go to convenience stores and eat delicious things. I’ve seen all your videos.” That’s when Choo offered to buy her some dessert, and she said she’d love to meet again if they got the chance.
Laughing, Choo Sung-hoon said with a big smile, “Let’s go to the convenience store together, Uncle,” which got a good laugh from everyone.
After the video was posted, netizens couldn’t stop praising both Jennie and Choo Sung-hoon for their sweet and genuine interaction.
“Wow Jennie is amazing… Even though she must be so tired, her fan service is kind and polite, but when taking photos, she’s undeniably a pop star. Seriously so cool….”
“Seeing Choo Sung-hoon being considerate of Jennie who must be tired, and expressing his desire to return to the stage after seeing Jennie pouring out her energy on stage, I felt that Choo Sung-hoon has a very big heart. I think a true adult is someone who, rather than trying to teach young people just because they are older, finds things to learn from them and feels genuine gratitude. I also really like Choo Sung-hoon’s unpretentious and funny side, but I hope this aspect of him can also be an example to many more people 🙂 Respect!”
“Jennie is so nice. It must be hard to do that when you’re tired. Both of them are great.”
“Jennie’s character is insane… She must have been tired, but calling him her mealtime companion and genuinely treating people is evident. She’s destined for even greater things.”
“How did you meet Jennie? That’s amazing. Why is Jennie such an angel~~~~ She must have been so busy and tired right after her Coachella stage, but she greeted him with such a smile ㅠㅠ Jennie is unbelievable.”
It’s moments like this that show how kindness, respect, and good vibes really stand out—on and off the stage.
