Nam Tae-hyun’s in the spotlight again—and not in a good way. The former WINNER member is facing more controversy, this time over drunk driving.
The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul said on May 8th that he’s been officially booked and is under investigation for violating the Road Traffic Act due to drunk driving.
This latest incident happened around 4:10 AM on April 27th. He reportedly hit a median strip while trying to overtake a car near the Dongjak Bridge on Gangbyeonbuk-ro, heading towards Ilsan.
Thankfully, no one was hurt in the crash. Still, his blood alcohol level was over 0.08%, which is enough to get a driver’s license revoked in South Korea.
Cops actually applied for an arrest warrant on May 2nd, but the court tossed it out after a hearing on May 7th. The court said there wasn’t enough reason to hold him in custody. For now, police plan to send the case to the prosecution without arrest.
Back in January of last year, he got a 10-month prison sentence with a two-year suspension for violating the Act on the Management of Narcotic Drugs.
And in March 2023? He was fined 6 million won for another drunk driving accident that happened while he was already being investigated for drug-related charges.
