Ham So Won, 48, has announced her divorce from her 18-year-younger Chinese husband, Jin Hua.
On the 16th, Ham So Won hinted at a live broadcast on her Instagram, saying, “Everyone, Jin Hua and I have something we want to say. Many people are tired or curious, so we’ve been wondering every day what to do.”
In the subsequent live broadcast, Ham So Won revealed, “We got divorced around December 2022. And then, starting in March or April of 2023, we announced it once. We said we were divorced, but that day, after announcing it, we thought to ourselves, ‘We have to separate since we announced our divorce.’ But we couldn’t bear to part ways because Hyejeong is so young.”
She continued, “So we thought we should try harder, and we suddenly opened a live broadcast that day, not knowing what to do, and said we would try to make it work. That’s how the situation turned out.”
Ham So Won further explained, “Having grown up in a household filled with arguments, I wanted to live in a peaceful home. Both of us have quick tempers, and Jin Hua needs constant reassurance. So, for the sake of our daughter Hyejeong, I made this decision.” She once again confirmed the divorce.
However, she added, “I’ll get Hyejeong’s permission for everything. Until Hyejeong accepts it, I plan to wait while spending time with Jin Hua. If Hyejeong wants it, I’m open to the idea of getting back together. We can’t say we’ve completely parted ways yet.”
According to Ham So Won, Jin Hua is still living with her and Hyejeong. Ham So Won said, “For Hyejeong’s sake, I’m trying to fulfill my responsibilities and duties. Seeing him make an effort makes me feel conflicted. Sometimes, I wonder if I made the right decision.” She added, “Even when I decided to get a divorce, I wasn’t sure if it was the right timing. I didn’t want Hyejeong to see us argue or be noisy anymore. After the divorce, there’s definitely been less fighting.”
Furthermore, regarding Jin Hua’s recent apology for claiming that Ham So Won had physically assaulted him, Ham So Won stated, “Jin Hua wrote that apology himself.”
Ham So Won and Jin Hua tied the knot in 2017. The couple, who had an 18-year age gap, gained popularity through TV shows like “Taste of Wife” but later took a break from broadcasting after being embroiled in broadcast manipulation controversies. In December 2022, they announced a year-long vacation to Vietnam and Thailand and have been active online since then.
April of last year, Ham So Won mentioned divorce, saying, “Due to the anti-fans’ indiscriminate attacks on my family, I’m going to get a divorce.” However, she soon appeared on a live broadcast with Jin Hua, saying, “We’re really busy in Vietnam. We broadcast at night, take care of our daughter, and have to go to Vietnam where our daughter is,” making it seem like their relationship was intact, which became a hot topic.
