Turns out, the shocking claim made by “A” about being attacked in New Jersey, USA, has been proven false. This person gave a recording to the late actress Kim Sae-ron’s family, claiming to have been stabbed and tied the story to some serious allegations — but now, it’s all falling apart.
The Korean Consulate General in New York cleared things up on the 19th. They said there’s been no arrest of any Korean nationals for crimes like attempted murder against other Koreans in their jurisdiction. “In accordance with Article 36 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, if a Korean national is arrested or detained, the local law enforcement authorities have an obligation to notify the relevant Korean consulate without delay. To date, we have not received any such notification from the local law enforcement authorities,” they explained — meaning the case wasn’t even reported to cops over there.
They also addressed the FBI investigation claim and said, “This is information that our agency does not possess or manage,” making it clear they’re not involved or aware of any such investigation.
On May 7th, Kim Se-ui, head of the Garo Sero Institute, held a press conference in Gangnam, Seoul, and claimed A was stabbed nine times in the neck by two attackers — one Korean, one Chinese — and said, “Fortunately, both assailants were arrested by the police.” He even went further, pointing fingers at actor Kim Soo-hyun, saying, “We have obtained the phone call records of the assailants from the US police and the FBI. This is clearly a premeditated crime, a case of solicitation of murder. The FBI is conducting a related investigation.”
But A, the person at the center of this, later changed their story. First, it was “stabbed nine times in the neck,” but then they claimed it was just an arm injury. A video with health updates was also posted on YouTube that same day.
People started questioning the medical certificate A showed, too. It only mentions deep cuts on the ‘right shoulder’ and left hand — no mention of neck or upper right arm injuries, which totally contradicts what A and Kim Se-ui had been saying.
A is also the one who claimed Kim Sae-ron told them about a relationship with Kim Soo-hyun from 2015, when she was still a minor. A provided the Garo Sero Institute with an audio recording that allegedly had Kim Sae-ron’s voice on it.
But now, even that recording is being called out as fake. On the 7th, journalist-turned-YouTuber Lee Jin-ho released a forensic report that said the file had been manipulated. “The analysis concluded that the recording was created based on AI-generated voices, to which a third party, namely A, added their own voice and noise. I was astonished by the extent to which AI technology has advanced,” Lee said.
He also revealed A tried to reach out to Kim Soo-hyun’s team, asking for a large payout. “I have confirmed that Kim Soo-hyun’s side ignored the audio material after reviewing it,” he added.
