Netflix definitely isn’t playing around when it comes to keeping spoilers under wraps—just ask 7high (real name Jung Seung-mook), the professional poker player from The Devil’s Plan: Death Room. He recently shared just how intense the security was while filming the show.
In a new video titled “Brain survival returns! The Devil’s Plan: Death Room Ep. 1–4 Behind-the-Scenes”, uploaded to YouTube channel TEO on May 9th, the cast got together to spill some behind-the-scenes stories from episodes 1 to 4. Names like Lee Se-dol, Kyuhyun, Kang Ji-young, Yoon So-hee, 7high, Lee Seung-hyun, Jung Hyun-Gyu, Choi Hyun-joon, Kim Ha-rin, Park Sang-yeon, Son Eun-you, and Tino were all there.
One moment that really stuck with everyone was when Lee Se-dol made his entrance in the first episode. The reactions were genuine—cast members said they were totally shocked. Son Eun-you even joked, “It felt like a photo in a newspaper article was approaching.” Meanwhile, producer Jung Jong-yeon chimed in, saying he was frustrated by people assuming the cast already knew each other’s faces and were faking their reactions. “(Viewers said that) the cast members were already familiar with each other’s faces outside, but they were surprised when they met, and their reactions seemed exaggerated,” he said.
7high then jumped in and shared a moment of his own, showing just how serious the filming environment was. “The level of security was (amazing). I asked to go to the restroom in the middle, and they escorted me with umbrellas on both sides,” he said, highlighting how carefully Netflix handled the cast to avoid any leaks.
And it wasn’t just him. Kang Ji-young, former JTBC announcer, said, “I’ve never received this kind of security before; two people were always with me.” Tino added, “I couldn’t see anyone until the moment I opened the door and went inside. (Looking at a Carnival van) I just thought someone would be in there,” explaining how tight everything was on set.
For fans eager for more, the show dropped episodes 1 through 4 on Netflix on the 6th. The next batch, episodes 5 to 9, is coming on the 13th, and the final three episodes (10–12) are set to drop on the 20th.
And fans are already all in. The cast dynamics and unique personalities are sparking tons of conversation online:
“The balance among the cast members is fantastic. You could even call Devil’s Plan an ‘Lee Se-dol fan induction show.’”
“Personally, Justin’s time auction with his unique laugh gave me chills.”
“Lee Se-dol is already on another level. I just hope he gets to experience all the hidden stages he wants in the prison before he leaves. He’s a truly unique competitor. Even if he doesn’t win, his appearance alone is inspiring.”
“Kim Ha-rin gives off a Francesca vibe. There’s something cool and serious about her, a different energy, which makes her funny in a way. Her gameplay is also good, and her charm makes me root for her.”
“Lee Se-dol’s mere presence is somehow amusing. There are both predictable and unexpected aspects to him. And it’s great that there isn’t a single background character, whether they play well or not.”
“I’m so sad that Lee Seung-hyun was eliminated so early. He’s smart and persistent, so he would have done well in the next day’s main match.”
“This seems to be the first season where every character is working hard. There isn’t a single character I dislike! They’re all captivating. Still, after four episodes, my favorite is Lee Se-dol.”
As The Devil’s Plan: Death Room unfolds, it’s clear that the cast, production, and viewers alike are fully invested in every twist, bluff, and reveal.
