Shim Hyun Seop, who stars in ‘Lovers of Joseon,’ opened up about how nervous he was during his first meeting with his girlfriend’s parents.
On August 26th, TV Chosun’s show ‘Lovers of Joseon’ aired a segment where Shim Hyun Seop talked about meeting his girlfriend’s parents for the first time.
They asked him, “Why didn’t you come to see us at all during the 5 months you were dating our daughter?” They seemed pretty surprised.
Shim Hyun Seop replied, “I’ve committed a grave sin.” He added, “This isn’t an excuse, but I did try to meet your parents around the 3-month mark. But I was told it was too soon, so two more months went by.”
He also said, “My mom isn’t the reason I’m late getting married. I spent my 40s in the hospital with her. It feels like I met Young-rim because of my mom. It’s not really about meeting someone when you’re young; it’s more about who you end up meeting.”
Shim Hyun Seop went on, “I feel weird bowing to my dad during ancestral rites because he’s younger than me. My mom missed him a lot before she passed away.”
He wrapped up by saying, “I see my girlfriend as a gift from my parents.”
