Meng Zi Yi Shines Amidst The Legend of Heroes Controversy

TV series, ’The Legend of Heroes,’ has caused quite a stir among viewers. Despite featuring a star-studded cast with actors like Ci Sha, Bao Shang En, Wang Hong Yi, Huang Yi, Zhou Yi Wei, Gao Wei Guang, Peter Ho, Ming Dao, and Meng Zi Yi, the show has been heavily criticized. Many people are disappointed with both the production quality and the casting choices.

The plot follows Guo Jing, a young boy growing up on the ’Mongolian prairie’ who becomes a famous martial arts hero. The series details his quest for revenge for his family and the challenges he faces. Along the way, he meets Huang Rong, a clever and beautiful woman who becomes his loyal companion and love interest.

However, the show has received significant backlash. Viewers have complained about the rushed pacing and how it deviates too much from the original novel (The Condor Trilogy) by the famous martial arts writer Jin Yong. Some comments from viewers include, “I’m so tired of seeing adaptations of The Legend of Heroes, The Return of the Condor Heroes, and Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre. I can’t even stand seeing the ads,” and “The plot moves too fast, and the character development is very weak. I’d rather watch the comic book Dragon Tiger Gate.”

One major point of controversy is the casting of Bao Shang En as Huang Rong. Many viewers feel she doesn’t fit the role and that her acting isn’t great. Comments include, “Bao Shang En looks crooked when she smiles,” and “Bao Shang En’s modern photos look okay, but her ancient costumes make her look less attractive.”

On the other hand, Meng Zi Yi, who plays Mei Chao Feng, has received praise for her beauty. Meng Ziyi, a Beijing Film Academy graduate, was previously known as the “The Legend of the Condor Heroes” and was admired for her role as Mu Nianci in an earlier adaptation of The Legend of Heroes, earning her the title of “Most Beautiful Mu Nianci.”

’Jin Yong’s’ works have always faced criticism. Many fans of the original novels have been disappointed with various adaptations over the years, citing problems like poor writing, inaccurate portrayals, and too many changes to the original story.
