Kim Nam-joo will showcase her tearful acting skills in the first episode of the new MBC Friday-Saturday drama ‘Wonderful World.’
The drama, which premieres on March 1st at 9:50 PM KST, tells the story of Eun Soo-hyun (played by Kim Nam-joo), who personally punishes the murderer who killed her son and uncovers the secrets surrounding that day.
Kim Nam-joo’s Character
Kim Nam-joo plays the role of Eun Soo-hyun, a professor of psychology and a writer. Soo-hyun had a seemingly perfect life, with both social success and a happy family. However, her life takes a 180-degree turn after she personally punishes the perpetrator who harmed her young son.
Still Cuts
In the still cuts released ahead of the first episode, Kim Nam-joo is seen kneeling on the cold asphalt, covered in snow, and grabbing the collar of Oh Man-seok (played by Kwon Oh-joong), the man who killed her son. The image of Kim Nam-joo, who is the victim, sobbing and clinging to the perpetrator, raises questions about her motivations.
Production Team’s Comments
The production team explained, “This is a scene where a mother who has lost her son confronts the perpetrator and pours out all of her pent-up emotions.” They added, “Kim Nam-joo perfectly captured the entire range of emotions, from the exhaustion of loss to the outburst of suppressed emotions, in a single take.”
Kim Nam-joo’s Comments
Kim Nam-joo shared her thoughts on her character, saying, “Eun Soo-hyun is a character with strong maternal instincts. As a mother of two myself, I couldn’t help but be drawn into Eun Soo-hyun’s emotions, and I focused on immersing myself in each moment of the scene.”
