On August 9th, MBC unveiled character posters for its new Friday-Saturday drama, “Black Out.” The posters feature key characters from Mucheon City: Ye Yeong-sil (played by Bae Jong-ok), Hyun Gu-tak (played by Kwon Hae-hyo), and Shim Dong-min (played by Jo Jae-yoon).
“Black Out,” a reverse-tracking crime thriller, follows a young man wrongly accused of murder without a body, as he seeks the truth about that day ten years later.
In her poster, Ye Yeong-sil, a three-term National Assembly member of Mucheon City, shows her worry about a murder case without a body that has resurfaced. She expresses, “It feels like the old misfortune is haunting us again.” Her hands clasped over her mouth convey anxiety, while her mysterious eyes raise questions about her true intentions.
Hyun Gu-tak, the Mucheon City Police Chief, is seen helping Go Jeong-woo (played by Byeon Yo-han), who was once a suspect in the murder case. However, he makes it clear that he believes, “Even if you don’t remember, it doesn’t mean you’re innocent.” His troubled expression and the way he blurs his vision with outstretched hands suggest he may be hiding something.
Shim Dong-min’s intense hatred for Go Jeong-woo, whom he suspects of murdering his daughter, adds to the drama’s tension. His furrowed brow and angry eyes, combined with his finger pointed at Go Jeong-woo as the murderer, highlight his deep resentment.
These character posters for “Black Out” showcase the feelings of unease, confusion, and anger that the characters have towards Go Jeong-woo, a convicted murderer. Ye Yeong-sil and Hyun Gu-tak express their concerns while hiding their eyes and mouths, but their words and actions seem inconsistent, raising curiosity about their true motives.
In contrast, Shim Dong-min’s outright hostility towards Go Jeong-woo creates a dangerous atmosphere. The drama piques viewers’ interest in uncovering what really happened in Mucheon City on that fateful day and what secrets the villagers are trying to keep hidden.
The series will premiere on August 16th.
