Min Hee-jin, CEO of ADOR, is currently in a heated clash with HYBE and is now facing serious accusations from a former employee. The ex-worker has alleged that Min suppressed a sexual harassment and workplace bullying report.
The former employee, Mr. B, claims Min labeled him as a troublemaker and insulted him. Min, on the other hand, argues that the allegations are far from the truth and finds it strange that Mr. B has come forward now, especially with HYBE under fire.
On August 13th, news broke that Mr. B, who had left ADOR, started an Instagram account where he posted, “I reported to (HYBE) with solid evidence, including unfair instructions and sexually harassing comments by Executive A, which I considered workplace bullying.”
Mr. B alleged that Executive A made inappropriate comments like, “Having a young woman around is better for the atmosphere than two men eating together,” and that he faced baffling reprimands and criticism from this executive.
He also accused Min of actively defending Executive A and insulting him during the investigation, instead of addressing the issues. Mr. B said Min tried to discredit his report by framing him as incompetent and troublesome, and claimed that Min even leaked their KakaoTalk conversations on Instagram, engaging in the very behavior she had criticized.
Executive A, a close ally of Min, was mentioned in a document HYBE used in April, alleging a takeover attempt. After an investigation, HYBE concluded that Executive A’s actions didn’t constitute workplace harassment or bullying, and Mr. B resigned from ADOR.
As the controversy swirled, Min released a statement in the afternoon, addressing each of Mr. B’s claims. She noted, “Mr. B is not a new employee but a level 7 employee with a basic salary of 130 million won (excluding incentives), the highest among ADOR members. Despite this, his work emails were filled with grammatical errors, and both I and the deputy CEO had to correct them. This led to frequent problems and unexpected issues, which were disappointing.”
Min denied the harassment allegations, saying, “Considering Mr. B’s salary and seniority, Mr. A would never use the term ‘young woman’ as he had no concept of being young. Their accounts don’t match.”
She expressed skepticism about the timing of Mr. B’s claims, stating, “It’s very suspicious that I am being dragged into this controversy and that all the blame is falling on me, especially now when HYBE is being criticized by the media. Mr. B’s sudden appearance and focus on me, who tried to mediate, along with his demand for a public apology, is questionable.”
Min concluded, “Those trying to tarnish my reputation by creating and distorting issues should stop their inhumane actions immediately.”
