Dexter Pictures’ first TV series, ‘Head over Heels,’ is performing strongly both in South Korea and across international markets. The drama, which blends a modern youth romance with Korean occult elements, has been praised for its unique genre concept and rising cast.
As of July 28, ‘Head over Heels’ ranked 5th globally on FlixPatrol in Amazon Prime Video’s TV Show category. It topped charts in 8 countries including Thailand, Indonesia, and Egypt, and made the Top 10 in 35 countries like India, France, and Finland.

In South Korea, the show began with a 4.3% viewership rating (Nielsen Korea) and later climbed to a peak of 5.9%, maintaining a strong average of 4.8%. It has led its time slot across both cable and general programming channels.
The series has also topped Good Data Corporation’s FUNdex rankings in the TV-OTT integrated category for two straight weeks. Meanwhile, in the cast buzz rankings, Choo Young-woo and Cho Yi-hyun came in at first and second place, respectively.

Streaming-wise, it’s been No.1 on TVING’s TOP10 for three consecutive weeks (July 1–15), and has now surpassed 240 million cumulative digital views—a strong indicator of high digital traction.
The success also showcases the synergy of Dexter Group. Dexter Pictures led production and planning, introducing unique characters like ‘Yeom-hwa’ (played by Choo Ja-hyun) and evil spirit ‘Bae Gyeon U’ (played by Choo Young-woo) through a bold adaptation of the original IP. The cast, which includes Cho Yi-hyun as ‘Park Seong-A’ and Cha Kang-yoon as ‘Pyo Ji-ho’, has been credited for their chemistry and growing performances.
Dexter Studio handled the visual effects and color grading, enhancing the drama’s mood and its portrayal of shamanism and K-ghosts like fire ghosts, dog ghosts, and baby spirits. It also used its AI technology in war scenes depicting character Bong-su’s trauma, generating realistic action without live-action filming using in-house generative AI.

CEO Kim Dong-hyun of Dexter Pictures said, “‘Head over Heels,’ a romance genre with fantasy elements of MZ shamans, clearly showcased the synergy of the Dexter Group. Based on the remarkable success of our first drama, we plan to introduce a variety of drama genres utilizing excellent IPs, including ‘Taoist Meoteol,’ which is currently undergoing live-action adaptation of its original animation, the Korea-Japan co-produced fantasy romance ‘Dive to You.'”
Episode 11 of ‘Head over Heels’ airs today (July 28) at 8:50 PM KST on tvN.
