Netflix has confirmed the global release of its original Korean movie ‘Love Untangled’ for August 29, along with the launch of a teaser poster and trailer.
Shin Eun-soo’s Teaser Poster for Netflix’s ‘Love Untangled’ Highlights 90s Teen Romance Vibe
The romantic youth drama is set in 1998, centering around nineteen-year-old Park Se-ri who’s gearing up for a big moment: her first love confession. But there’s a catch — she wants to fix her lifelong issue first: her unruly curly hair. The coming-of-age romance takes a turn when she gets involved with Han Yoon-seok, a transfer student from Seoul.
The teaser poster shows Shin Eun-soo as Se-ri, struggling with her huge, curly hair, filled with quirky items like eggs and paper cranes. The tagline reads: “STRAIGHTEN MY HAIR, STRAIGHT TO YOUR HEART” — giving a glimpse into the youthful energy of the story.

The teaser trailer kicks off with Se-ri’s voiceover: “My hair started curling, and my life got tangled right along with it.” The clip then shows funny scenes of Se-ri’s failed attempts at confessing to Kim Hyeon (played by Cha Woo-min), the most popular guy in school. From using hairdryers to book covers, she tries everything to get the straight hair she thinks Kim Hyeon likes.
Gong Myung, Shin Eun-soo, Cha Woo-min, and Yoon Sang-Hyeon lead the cast. Their roles explore teenage romance, high school friendships, and first love emotions. The chemistry between Se-ri and Yoon-seok stands out, as he unexpectedly gets caught up in her “confession operation” and starts to grow closer to her.
The retro vibe is another strong point. Props like cassette tapes, film cameras, and camcorders pull in that late-’90s nostalgia, while the energetic mood of Baek Seong-rae (played by Yoon Sang-Hyeon) and Se-ri’s other friends bring out the fun of that time.
The film is directed by Namkoong Sun, who’s known for her emotionally rich storytelling. Her previous works include ‘Time to Be Strong’, which won the Grand Prize at the 2024 Jeonju International Film Festival, and ‘Ten Months’. She’s expected to deliver another heartfelt teen story with this project.

With a mix of coming-of-age themes, awkward first crushes, and 90s nostalgia, the movie promises a fun and relatable watch. The cast’s chemistry — especially between Shin Eun-soo and Gong Myung — highlights the kind of teen love stories that resonate with both younger viewers and those who’ve lived through it.
‘Love Untangled’ will stream exclusively on Netflix worldwide starting August 29, adding another must-watch K-drama film to the platform’s growing lineup of Korean teen romance movies.
