Jang Dong-joo impresses as rookie cop in Netflix’s gun-action K-drama Trigger!
Actor Jang Dong-joo is getting attention after his performance in the new Netflix drama ‘Trigger’, which dropped on the 25th. The Korean gun-related action thriller follows two men caught up in a flood of illegal firearms and escalating shooting incidents across South Korea.
In ‘Trigger,’ Jang Dong-joo takes on the role of Jang Jeong-U, a driven rookie cop under the wing of Kim Nam-gil’s character, Lee Do. At first, Jang Jeong-U’s full-of-energy personality clashes with Lee Do’s quiet and distant attitude. But as he starts to understand Lee Do better, his respect grows, and he becomes a reliable field partner. Fans have praised the character’s development, calling it one of the drama’s highlights.
Jang Dong-joo already made a name for himself across different genres. On TV, he’s appeared in KBS2’s ‘School 2017’, tvN’s ‘Criminal Minds’, OCN’s ‘Class of Lies’, and SBS’s ‘My Strange Hero’ and ‘Let Me Be Your Knight’.
His film career’s just as solid. In the political comedy ‘Honest Candidate’, he played Bong Eun-ho, the son of Ra Mi-ran’s character Joo Sang-sook, where he showed off sharp comedic timing. Later films like ‘Count’ and ‘Handsome Guys’ proved he could take on a wide range of roles.
He’s also expected to appear in SBS’s upcoming drama ‘Human from Today’, which has fans looking forward to what’s next.
