Three Years Later, Shin Go-eun and Yoon Jong-hwa Confirm They’ve Divorced.
After three years together, actress Shin Go-eun and actor Yoon Jong-hwa have officially ended their marriage. Shin took to Instagram on the 1st to share the news with fans.
“Almost half a year has passed since we ended our three years of marriage and started living separate lives. Our values and personalities were very different, and despite a lot of effort, it didn’t work out,” she wrote. “We have decided to live our lives diligently and to the best of our abilities in our respective places in the future.”
Before diving into the news, she admitted it took some time to decide whether or not to say anything publicly. “I debated for a long time whether or not I should write this post. However, I felt that I should inform those who are curious and share this part of my life going forward, so I am posting this short message.”
She wrapped up her message with warm words for her followers: “I am very sorry to deliver this news to those who showed interest and gave us their blessings. Please be careful not to catch a cold in this weather with large daily temperature differences, and I hope you have good days.”
The two actors first met on the set of the MBC daily drama Bad Love in 2019. After filming wrapped, they started dating in June 2020 and eventually tied the knot in May 2021. Now, three years later, they’ve decided to part ways.
Shin Go-eun originally debuted as a singer back in 2011. Her strong vocals got her recognized early, and by the next year, she’d already stepped into the musical theater scene with roles in Goong, The Days, Laundry, and I Loved You. She later transitioned to TV, landing lead roles in dramas like The Last Empress (2018), Gangnam Scandal, Bad Love, and Woman in a Veil.
Yoon Jong-hwa, meanwhile, got his start in acting in 2005 with the MBC drama Sad Love Story. He’s the younger brother of announcer Yoon Hyun-jin and has appeared in various dramas including Air City, Assorted Gems, Worlds Within, and You Are Too Much. In 2015, while filming Eve’s Love, he was diagnosed with spinal cord cancer. Thankfully, he made a recovery and returned to acting a year later in THE K2. Since then, he’s been active in projects like Different Dreams and Bad Love.
