On July 9, a media outlet reported that actress Lee Sung-kyung is in talks to star in the upcoming Korean production of the hit musical “Aladdin.” The reports claim she would be taking on the iconic role of Princess Jasmine for the performance scheduled for the second half of 2024.
YG Entertainment, Lee Sung Kyung’s agency, responded cautiously to the reports, stating that “nothing has been confirmed yet regarding the casting.”
Lee Sung-kyung has previously impressed audiences with her singing skills. She has received positive reviews for performing the theme song from “Aladdin,” “A Whole New World,” on various shows, including MBC’s “Radio Star.” This experience could make her a strong contender for the role of Princess Jasmine, who is known for her powerful vocals.

“Aladdin” Announces Performance Dates and Venues
The Korean production of “Aladdin” will open in Seoul on November 22 and run until June 22, 2025, at the Charlotte Theater. The Busan performance will follow at the Dream Theater in July 2025.
In addition to potentially making her musical debut, Lee Sung-kyung is also set to star in the JTBC drama “The Good Guy” with Lee Dong-wook and Ryu Hye-young this year.
