Actress Kim Bo-ra (29) is getting divorced after just 11 months of marriage.
She tied the knot with director Jo Ba-reun (35) last June. The two first got close while working on the 2021 film The Grotesque Mansion, where she acted and he directed. Their working relationship eventually turned romantic, and they ended up dating for three years before deciding to marry. The wedding was a private event.
But now, it’s over. On May 10, her agency Noon Company shared the news: “After careful consideration and sufficient discussion, they have amicably proceeded with the divorce through mutual agreement,” they said. “All procedures were recently completed.”
They also added a request to the public and media: “We earnestly ask that you refrain from making indiscriminate speculations, sensational reports, or spreading false information regarding this matter.”
If you’ve been following Kim Bo-ra’s career, you probably remember her from her breakout role as Kim Hye-na in the popular JTBC drama SKY Castle. But she actually started way earlier — her acting debut was in the 2005 drama Wedding as a child actress. Since then, she’s been in a bunch of dramas like Her Private Life, Touch, Like Flowers in Sand, and Black Out.
As for Jo Ba-reun, he’s made a name for himself in the indie film scene. Back in 2017, he won the Korean Fantastic Short Film Award at the 21st Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. Some of the films he’s directed include Vibration, Gang, Slate, and of course, The Grotesque Mansion.
