IU’s seriously winning hearts again—this time with how she celebrated Children’s Day for the young cast members of When Life Gives You Tangerines. On May 5th, Lee Cheon-mu’s mom (he played the young Yang Gwan Sik) posted some sweet photos and videos on Instagram, saying, “She said she chose it while wondering if it would suit Cheon-mu.”
The photos showed IU’s thoughtful gift—a set of clothes and a handwritten letter. Lee Cheon-mu can even be seen wearing the outfit and reading the note. His reaction? Absolutely adorable. He said, “She’s not an aunt, she’s a noona (older sister). Thank you for the Children’s Day gift, IU noona.”
IU’s gesture didn’t stop there. Ahn Tae-rin’s mom (she played young Geum-myeong) also shared what IU gave them, writing, “How broad-minded and thoughtful can one be to do this? It felt like a fairytale-like encounter that was too unbelievable. Thank you,” and even tagged it with #the best Children’s Day.
Lee Cheon-mu’s mom was also clearly blown away by IU’s kindness. She wrote, “Just how great of a person is actress IU? No matter how grateful and kind a person is, it would be impossible to always take care of everyone, but how can she be like this? As she goes through life, her acquaintances will continue to grow, won’t she end up taking care of like 100 million people later on?”
And IU’s generosity didn’t end with just the gifts. She also made a massive donation—150 million won ($108K)—under the name IUaena (a combo of IU and Uaena, her fan club) to mark Children’s Day 2025. The money’s going to support kids with disabilities and help young people who are getting ready to live independently.
Lately, IU’s been pulling double role in the Netflix series When Life Gives You Tangerines, where she nailed two different roles and left a huge impression. Up next, she’s getting ready to shoot her next project, Wife of a 21st Century Prince.
