On the May 10th episode of JTBC’s Knowing Bros, the cast held an emergency student council meeting after Lee Sang-min surprised everyone by announcing he got married. Seo Jang-hoon was so shocked, he said, “I thought it was a hidden camera prank.” Min Kyung-hoon added, “I also initially thought it was fake news.”
Right after the news dropped, Lee Sang-min walked in to loud applause and finally shared the love story behind his marriage—something he’d never talked about before. He started off, “I first met her in July or August of last year. Last year, we were just acquaintances who knew each other’s faces; we didn’t exchange contact information.”
“She was so beautiful. I even thought, ‘She should have been a celebrity,’” he said, smiling. He revealed his wife’s just a regular office worker, not in the entertainment industry. “I fell for her,” he added.
Min Kyung-hoon shared, “Lee Sang-min received the bouquet at my wedding. I wonder if receiving that bouquet was the starting point of his marriage.” Lee Soo-geun couldn’t stop laughing when Kim Hee-chul read the handwritten letter Lee Sang-min posted on social media. “He really laid it on thick with the cheesy lines,” he joked.
Lee Sang-min got honest about his mindset earlier this year. “In January, I experienced severe burnout and wondered, ‘What’s the point of constantly working and enduring this if I don’t have a family?’” He said he was just scrolling through his contacts one day and accidentally called her. “The next day, she bravely called me back, and that’s how we started seeing each other seriously.”
He also talked about a poem he’d read on Knowing Bros in the past for his future partner. “It wasn’t about a fictional person. If you look closely at the lines, I included ‘I’m waiting’ at the end of the poem. It meant I was waiting for your reply and your heart. Since we had only been seeing each other for three to four months, every moment felt urgent. I thought if it wasn’t her, I might never get married.”
After they registered their marriage on April 30th, he spent the long holiday meeting and greeting his wife’s family. “We decided not to have a wedding ceremony. It was my wife’s wish,” he shared.
To wrap it all up, Lee Sang-min looked into the camera and said, “What I can promise you all is that an angel-like person who I can spend the rest of my life with has come to me, so I will live happily. Please don’t worry and send us your support.”
